Ever since Google and Yahoo launched updated bulk email sender requirements in February, email marketers have been struggling to meet them so their messages don’t land in spam.
Now they have the tool they need to know if they are checking all the boxes.
Available in Postmaster Tools, Google’s new compliance dashboard checks adherence against each parameter of bulk sender requirements. It brings essential tools under a single roof where email marketers can monitor spam rate and reputation for their domains and sub-domains while ensuring compliance with email sending best practices.
Here’s a snapshot of the new dashboard:
Note: You will only see data within this dashboard if you are a bulk sender, i.e. you send more than 5,000 emails a day.
The bulk sender requirements are:
- Sender Policy Framework (SPF) and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) authentication set up for your domain
- “From:” header alignment status is passing
- Domain-Based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) records correctly placed and verified
- Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption verified
- User-reported spam complaint rate (indicated within Postmaster Tools) is under 0.3%
- Both reverse and forward Domain Name System (DNS) records in place and verified
- & 8. One-click unsubscribe and Honor unsubscribe: (Both show no value yet; Google moved forward the deadline for unsubscribe compliance to June 1, 2024)
It’s also worth noting that starting April, Google is gradually rejecting mail that doesn’t comply with these requirements. Check Google’s FAQs page regularly to stay on top of the changes and updates related to these guidelines.
